    Nikon D7500 DSLR Camera Body

Despite working predominantly in video I have always been a Nikon shooter, if only because I simply enjoy using their cameras. The D7500 isn't full frame and lacks some of the fancy features of more expensive cameras but I love this camera and have used it on professional shoots. For travelling it is a great compromise between price, features and image quality.

Nikon AF-S DX 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR Lens

For travelling having a good quality, versatile zoom lens is a must. I've spent years cycling through different models before recently settling on Nikon's DX 16-80MM. It's pricey but is probably one of the best zooms in Nikon's DX lineup. The zoom range and wide aperture enables you to capture most situations with just the one lens which is perfect for travel. The fact the aperture is variable is actually a benefit as it allows the construction of the lens to be very light. It also has great Vibration Reduction which makes it perfect for steady video and low light photography. Even wide open it is incredibly sharp - this really is a fantastic all rounder.

I recommend shopping around as it is usually on offer somewhere.

Nikon AF-S DX 18-140mm f/3.5-G5.6 ED VR Lens

If the pricier Nikon 16-80mm lens is out of your budget then the 18-140mm is a great alternative travel zoom. Its aperture and sharpness aren't quite as good, but it comes with extra range on the long end up to 140mm making it even more versatile. It is roughly the same weight for travelling and has Vibration Reduction so is still pretty decent for video too.

    Nikon AF-S DX 35mm F/1.8 G Prime Lens

Fast, light, versatile and cheap - what more could you want?

I love this prime, its super sharp and just a joy to use. Great for wondering around a new town and capturing some street photography.

  • Nikon 50mm.jpg

Nikon AF 50 mm F/1.8 D FX Full Frame Prime Lens

The older version of Nikon's 50mm prime, which I have had since my first camera, but still one my favourites.
Super sharp, fast, light and incredibly cheap - probably the best bang for buck you can get in lenses. Also the fact that it is full frame means you can use it on both DX and FX cameras.

  • Nikon Battery.jpg

    Nikon ENEL15a Rechargeable Li-ion Battery

All important spare battery for the Nikon D7500!

I always buy officially branded batteries from the original camera manufacturer after seeing third-party batteries destroy the inside of a camera!

    Manfrotto Advanced Travel Backpack

My perfect travel camera bag I spent a long time searching for!

Side opening with space for all of the gear in this kit plus day-to-day stuff like food and books.

Check out the full review of this bag on my YouTube.

    Zoom H1n Handy Recorder

This is the updated version of the H1 external audio recorder I use for recording dialogue and specific sounds. Very small, weighs nothing and produces great quality sound.

I often use it with my lapel mic to capture my voice when talking to camera.

    Peak Design Anchor Links

I bought these great links to convert my current handmade camera neck strap into a detachable one, enabling me to swap straps on my camera instantly.

The extra anchors in the pack also allow me to add them to GoPros and other accessories if I ever need to attach them to one of my straps.

  • Couch-Guitar-Strap.jpg

'Couch Guitar Straps' Vegan camera Neck strap

Couch Guitar Straps hand make vegan accessories from recycled materials like old furniture and seat belts - predominantly straps as their name suggests.

I love the way their camera straps are designed like guitar straps (extra long) so you can sling your camera over your chest and swing it up when you want to use it. This means the weight isn't all hanging around your neck, and you look less like a tourist!

This particular one looks like embossed leather but of course is completely vegan! I think it's super stylish but they have loads of different designs if it isn't quite you.

  • Zhiyun Crane V2.jpg

Zhiyun Crane V2 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer

Fantastic gimbal for small DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras. This one doesn't have as many features as the newer models but is a lot lighter and cheaper than more recent updates making it great for when I do take it on the road.
